Hello again all my friends! Sven is back! (My sincere apologies that it has been a while). I have some interesting tales to reveal. The other week some friends and I anchored the boat at the most pleasant of places imaginable!
What is it I hear you exclaim! Well, it is in fact a little city pearl that lies hidden under the natural ceiling of the trees, hence its name Boule & Berså. Boule as you know is the lovely French pastime that includes iron balls, and Berså simply means arbour. This place is conveniently accessible by sea, by foot, or by car – and allows you to beat your friends at boule while sipping refreshing drinks and eating lovely food from the bar and restaurant. Immensely satisfied, we wanted more. So once we were done playing, drinking, and eating (how can anyone be done with that?) we took the short stroll over the bridge to Södermalm, and headed up to the old quarters of Fjällgatan – a unique street that offers an unparalleled panoramic view of the Stockholm inlet. Here we quickly proceeded to grab the best seats at the café before trying out every flavour on the ice-cream menu. Burp.
When are you coming?
Sven

Hey everyone, it sure has been a while. But not in vain I might add. Lately I’ve been exploring the more glamorous side of town, visiting both the Casino and the cool club nights of F12.
Fredsgatan 12, or F12 as we Stockholmers like to call it, is one of our more fancy restaurants in town. I’m pretty sure both Sven and Mr Meatball have written about it before. What I’m also pretty sure of is that they have both completely missed that it nightly hosts one of the cooler nightclubs in town out on the terrace and stairs of the historic building. If there’s one place to be seen by the people you want to be seen by, this is it. In other words, you can be sure to see me here! The other night I decided to let the dancing shoes have a night off and slipped into something a lot more uncomfortable to join me at the casino. This place, and concept if you like, is fairly new to us, having opened only a couple of years ago. The place is great though. Whether you like to spend a lot of money or not – the gambling and bars they have offer equal entertainment with blinking machines, glamorous card tables, and twinkling outfits. A great place to enjoy a glitzier start to any evening!
Enjoy the party.

Stockholm is great when you’re dressed up in a steamboat costume. Go east and there’s a magnificent archipelago waiting to be conquered. Go west however, and there’s an equally intriguing lake with similar archipelagic landscapes to enjoy.
I decided to go west. Hopped on one of the historic steamboats that usually anchor next to the city hall, close to where most of Stockholm the musical was recorded. While thinking of all of these fond memories of the musical I accidentally lost track on both time and bearing and soon found myself all the way out at Drottningholm, an island in the great lake of Mälaren - and home to the King and Queen of Sweden. Drottningholm Palace is a splendid creation, and also the finest preserved royal castle of the 17th century that can be found in Sweden. Influenced in large by the French palace of Versailles, this abode was built by architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder by commission of Queen Hedvig Eleonora. Today the palace is featured on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, and the amazing Palace Park is well worth a visit by itself. Guided tours of the palace are of course available.
Until we meet again,

Although the result of imagination appears to have fallen short when it comes to the name, the restaurant Restaurangen (The Restaurant in Swedish) have done everything right when it comes to welcoming a man in a meatball suit.
This place is located in a very central part of town, on Oxtorgsgatan. The concept is simple, but leaves visitors with an incredibly difficult task. All dishes are served as smaller appetisers, prompting a selection of many goodies instead of having to settle for only a few. The menu is printed on paper and by using a pen you simply proceed to circle all the dishes you would like to have. All the meals are named after ingredients, further hinting the flavour-sensation that you are invited to explore. The excellent selection of wine is also selected using the pen and served according to your request. Seeing as I was as hungry as I always am, I went for the full fandango and had a 7-course meal. My selections included a delicious gazpacho, crispy thai pork, a mixed grill, an amazing foie gras, a well seasoned clam chowder, and a tiramisu from heaven. I like to think that a man that carries the burden of a meatball suit is well worth his dessert on any day. Do I even need to mention that I rolled out of the place when I was done? Yummy!

What better way to celebrate the fact that summer is finally here, than to explore all the fantastic hidden stores in Stockholm? Well I for one couldn’t think of any other way, so that is exactly what I decided to do!
To begin with I headed on over to Bazoueira. This is a smaller store on Bondegatan on Södermalm. But I never judge size. A fashion outlet for smaller and more exciting designers from far and abroad, Bazoueira mainly caters those who like to dress in Scandinavian design. Exciting brands such as Maria Westerlind, Camilla Norrback, Tönt (which means geek), and lots more is easily indulged here. On Kungsholmen lies another of my secret favourites - Katitzi. This shop sells smaller Scandinavian designer labels alongside a great selection of second hand goodies. I have occasionally picked up garments beyond my wildest dreams here. I recommend it warmly. Finally I went to Speakeasy. Having relocated from Vasastan to Östermalm, this store is still one of my absolute favourites. Not only can you find lovely clothes that cannot be found elsewhere in town, they also double as a café. To think that no one ever thought of the convenience of sipping an espresso while trying on clothes before. I’m in heaven.
All the best,
Inga xxx

The other day I managed to complete a life-long dream that I’ve had. I decided to have a picnic that both outlasted as well as outdid any other picnic that mankind may have heard of. I think I just might of done it.
I got up at around 3.35 am, just in time to catch the breathtaking sunrise a few minutes later. The real reason for this inhumane time was however my eager ambition to make the most of a proper picnic-devoted day. With my basket already packed, including my newly baked bread from the evening before – I grabbed my blanket and began the stroll out towards Djurgården. Needless to say, I found myself first on my favourite spot close to the gardens of Rosendal. I cannot exactly recall what happened next as I dropped off rather immediately after I lied down. But when I awoke, the park was bustling with families and couples who had all come out to enjoy the wonderful summer sun. There were people playing frisbee, I saw joggers, some others riding horses, and also sporty athletes in the canal from the nearby rowing club. Towards the evening the passers-by had changed into couples on romantic strolls, or who were simply walking their dogs. Djurgården truly is fantastic this time of year. It’s so much more than just a regular park – it’s an entire island of opportunity. I broke my picnicking-record by the way, I got home at midnight. What a day!
Yours respectfully,
Sven

I recently stumbled upon this great new club in town that I just couldn’t resist the urge to write about. The club is called Russian Spring Break (of course it is!) - but for all of you looking for newly educated Russians, look elsewhere.
Resident DJ’s Jeansbjörn and Yxa (that’s DJ Jeans Bear and DJ Axe) are the masterminds behind this club that now resides at the fabulous outdoor nightclub on Kungsholmen that is called Trädgården (The Garden). Apparently the club is named after DJ Yxa’s favourite drink and the music they play comes from a whole load of places that ring rather more tropical bells than those of Russia. Think Houston, Baltimore, Jamaica, Paris, Brazil, London and Atlanta, and you’ll have arrived at the dance-orientated hiphop & club-remixes that blend together with the people who come here. I came here as an unintroduced beginner, but by the time I left I had proved to everyone that it takes a whole lot more than the disguise of a disco ball outfit to shake the stuff the way I do. I felt like such a success, I’ll be going back next time to prove it wasn’t a one-off occasion.
See you soon in Stockholm I hope!
