In almost every city most of the interesting stuff seems to happen in the suburbs. So I decided to get on the train and leave the inner city. And return with a full shopping bag as my goal.
First I decided to go south and visit Kungens Kurva (Swedish for King’s Corner, named after king Gustaf V who crashed his Cadillac in this particular corner after a hunting session in 1946). Kungens Kurva is located in Skärholmen and you take the underground’s green line to get here. Here you can visit the first IKEA in the world and Heron City (a big mall including the gigantic home electronic chain Media Markt, movie theatres, food courts and so on). I filled up my yellow IKEA bag with usual cheap classics such as tea lights and candleholders. Then I headed north. To Kista Galleria. A really nice mall including lots of nice cafés, foodcourts, movie theatres, hair salons, pedicure salons, clothing stores and if you’re in to shoes (I can tell you I am) this is the place to be. There are shoes, shoes and even more shoes in various price ranges. After buying three pairs of shoes I went back to the underground station (located in the mall, perfect if you don’t want to mess up your hair if it’s rainy outside) and went back to the city. But I can tell you; the suburbs of Stockholm are the place to be if you’re a shoppaholic!

Usually you see me in my traditional folk costume, but I’m also a big sucker for streetwear and Stockholm is a really nice spot if you’re into that.
One of the biggest selections of street and skatewear you’ll find at Caliroots, Brunnsgatan 9. They rock brands such as ALIFE, Vans, Ice Cream, 10 Deep, Nike SB, Stussy, Crooks and Castles among others. The selection are updated on a regularly basis and they also have a really nice web shop. To find Sweden’s own top skatewear brand WESC you should head to their concept store at Kungsgatan 66. Here you find a nice selection of their latest collection as well as some cool skateboards, trucks and other skate items. Are you looking for sneakers, take the train to Södermalm and go to Sneakers n Stuff at Åsögatan. They have the biggest selection of vintage and new sneaker models from Air Jordan, Air Max, Air Force Ones, Converse, Adidas, New Balance etc etc. You’ll also find nice tees and sweaters from Milkcrate Clothing, Mixwell and Keep Diggin NYC. And the best part: If you’re almost out of cash, just grab a cup of coffee and lounge in their cafeteria while listening to the DJ spinning the latest club bangers.
Peace

More than often a girl needs everything, and what better way to serve this need than to go to a place where one can find everything? Right in the heart of town, by Stureplan, I decided to enjoy a day with a little of everything!
The shopping mall of Sturegallerian is one of my firm favourites, with a wide selection of great stores, both well known and smaller designer boutiques. It’s so easy to lose track of time in here, especially when wandering around the stores with some friends. When we went here recently however, we made sure we wouldn’t lose track of our time. We immediately went to the bathing facilities of Sturebadet that lie within the mall. Here we booked ourselves up for some nice treatments during the afternoon. They offer great massages, facial treatments, body, feet, and anything else one could possibly require from a good spa. Once you’ve had your treatment, a nice little swim in the pool is dearly recommended. We had a fantastic time, even though we cut our shopping spree short of several hours. And once we were done at Sturebadet, we decided to treat ourselves to some more of the Sture-hospitality found around here. Just outside, with a fabulous outdoor seating towards Stureplan, we soon found ourselves sipping white wine spritzers at Sturehof. The food by the way is equally divine.
Hoping your days are as good as mine!

I recently discovered that one of the most revered, respected, and well-recognised Swedish design items carries an entire world beyond the store where it is supposed to serve its purpose. The item? The plastic IKEA bag of course!
This bag is amazing when it comes to its carrying capabilities! Usually I’ll be visiting my home at least once during my shopping days, just to offload some bags so I can keep on going. But ever since I brought my newly purchased oversized plastic bag from IKEA, I can make an entire days worth of shopping all go down into one single bag. Impressive, I know! It might not be the most stylish artefact I have been known to carry, but at least it’s Swedish design in its most true shape and colours. Let me tell you about the other day: In a single bag-carrying-shopping-spree I managed to first visit every store there is in NK, then the same in the other huge department store; Åhléns. Then I went passed Sturegallerian, a large mall-like place next to Stureplan. After that I just happened to meet some friends so we went for drinks. You should have seen the looks I got when everyone saw the stuff I had in my bag! After that I managed to stroll along Drottninggatan right from the bottom to the top of the hill. This street is paved with stores. First I only looked at, and entered, stores on the west side of the street. Then I went all the way back again and did the east side. It was one of the best days of my life. Shame my shoulder seems to be aching.
Lots and lots of love

There’s so much to do and enjoy in Stockholm, one might sometimes wonder how on earth to fit it all in one stay. The Stockholm Card is a great start, with free entrance to 75 museums and sights, as well as public transportation to take you there.
As you may have gathered by now, I’m very much into heavy shopping sprees with the occasional café, restaurant, or bar visit wedged in between. But a girl must enjoy the local culture on offer too, right? I took some friends with me last weekend, and we all went out and purchased The Stockholm Card. Read more about it here. Seeing as there’s so much to do and visit, we decided to go out to Djurgården where the museums are plenty and fairly close to each other. First we enjoyed the art at the fabulous gallery at Liljevalchs. From here we moved on to the incredible Vasa museum. (It must have been my 14th visit, but still just as impressive and breathtaking.) This old warship sunk on its maiden voyage already in the Stockholm inlet! Some 300 years later it was brought back to the surface and put on display. Finally we went over to Skansen – the world’s oldest open-air museum. Apart from containing a great selection of historical buildings from all over Sweden, this place also doubles as Stockholm’s very own zoo! A visit to the aquarium is a must!
Until next time,
Love Inga

What better way to celebrate the fact that summer is finally here, than to explore all the fantastic hidden stores in Stockholm? Well I for one couldn’t think of any other way, so that is exactly what I decided to do!
To begin with I headed on over to Bazoueira. This is a smaller store on Bondegatan on Södermalm. But I never judge size. A fashion outlet for smaller and more exciting designers from far and abroad, Bazoueira mainly caters those who like to dress in Scandinavian design. Exciting brands such as Maria Westerlind, Camilla Norrback, Tönt (which means geek), and lots more is easily indulged here. On Kungsholmen lies another of my secret favourites - Katitzi. This shop sells smaller Scandinavian designer labels alongside a great selection of second hand goodies. I have occasionally picked up garments beyond my wildest dreams here. I recommend it warmly. Finally I went to Speakeasy. Having relocated from Vasastan to Östermalm, this store is still one of my absolute favourites. Not only can you find lovely clothes that cannot be found elsewhere in town, they also double as a café. To think that no one ever thought of the convenience of sipping an espresso while trying on clothes before. I’m in heaven.
All the best,

An unexpected and highly unusual rainy day appeared. But that’s why they build most stores under roofs. Am I right?! Luckily Stockholm has some perfect shopping malls.
Today I spent the day in the more central parts of town and especially in the mall known as Gallerian. Located between the Central Station and Kungsträdgården and home to great shops like H&M, Top Shop, and MQ who sell a whole range of Swedish designer brands. (Filippa K, Acne, Bondelid, Peak, and J. Lindeberg to name a few.) It’s a nice hang-out when the weather isn’t as nice as one is use to. I started the day with a fat-free yogurt cone in the ice-cream parlour located here. Guilty pleasure made innocent! Met up with some friends at Top Shop, for the latest and greatest in fashion from London. Always a pick-me-up! Right across the street you find the huge department store NK. They have all the great brands with everything from cosmetics to shoes. Spent the afternoon in one of their nice cafés sipping coffee, a perfect ending to a great shopping day!
love always.

Okay people, as promised I’m now going to tell you more about shopping in other parts of town. Today I headed over to Östermalmstorg to report back to you, it’s such a hard job being me!
In this area you’ll find the more pricey shops, with everything from Gucci to the more streetwear inspired fashion such as the shopper’s Mecca known as Urban Outfitters. This huge store, with shops all around the world, has finally found its way to Stockholm. Located in an old movie theatre, it’s pretty spectacular. Here you can find that special gift you won’t find anywhere else, all sorts of fun gadgets and of course fashion to die for! In other words, that is my words, a huge two thumbs up! Further down the same street, Biblioteksgatan, by the corner of Norrmalmstorg you can find the store Solo. If you can’t find the perfect fit jeans here, they simply do not exist! Furthermore they have great clothes for all tastes, and rest assure that everything found in here will leave you nothing short of trendy!

After a well-needed break, I’m back doing what I do best - shopping, of course! As the southern part of the city is where you’ll mostly find me, I’ll give you a quick report of my latest shopping spree around here before we hit other parts of town.
The area between Medborgarplatsen and Skanstull is fashionably known as SoFo, short for “South of Folkungagatan”. Here you’ll find lots of independent designer shops, cool clothes and vintage stuff. First there’s Tjallamalla, a haven for girls who like new trendy clothes that haven’t quite hit H&M or the high street yet. Local design talent sell jewellery and shoes here too. I also recommend the cool shop Grandpa on Södermannagatan that has, gasp, everything! I’ve picked up furniture, bicycles, shoes, games, as well as top of the line fashion in this place. They have recently opened another shop on Kungsholmen, I will definitely update you on that one as soon as I have time to head on over. Rumour has it the shop is designed as a 5-star hotel, complete with a café inside, wow!
Yours truly

A girl can’t just go shopping all the time, I mean who has the time for that? Moreover, hours and hours of frivolous spending sprees uses up a lot of energy. That’s why I took a well-deserved day off and went for coffee all day long.
I started off with a quick latte to go at my nearby café, Svart Kaffe. After that I was walking along doing everything in my power to keep my eyes off the window displays that kept popping up all over the place. Why are there so many interesting stores I thought to myself! I’d made some plans with some friends, so I kept walking and managed to only enter 2 shops before arriving at Saturnus. Now is this place lovely or what? I enjoyed the usual gossip and chitchat while glancing at what all the other fashionable girls were wearing. The enormous cinnamon buns are a meal in themselves, and the large latte is, well, large! However, we stayed so long we eventually decided to just stay put and enjoy our dinner there too. The wine was also well deserved and delicious I must say!
Lots of love,
Inga
