I might be dressed up in a Meatball outfit, and that does contain its oddities. But when it comes to getting around the narrow old alleys of Stockholm’s Old Town you can trust me, there’s no quicker way!
Not that this beautiful old part of town is one to hurry through however. Around every little corner one can find the most intriguing part of history, a store, or a restaurant that serves food worthy of the buildings in which they reside. One of the finer in this category would have to be Gyldene Freden. (The golden peace) This restaurant more or less looks exactly the same way it did when it opened in 1722. Throughout the years several famous people have dined here on a regular basis, including the painter Anders Zorn who one evening even bought the place, thus saving it from bankruptcy. Today the restaurant is thriving and they serve a mean plate of meatballs. I had my sight set for something different so I decided to head on over to Pontus by the sea. This rather fashionable restaurant lies by the seaside front of the Old Town, and allows you to enter the magical world of a proper French brasserie right in the heart of the city. They also have fresh seafood on a daily basis, and that’s what watered my mouth this time.

Hello again all my friends! Sven is back! (My sincere apologies that it has been a while). I have some interesting tales to reveal. The other week some friends and I anchored the boat at the most pleasant of places imaginable!
What is it I hear you exclaim! Well, it is in fact a little city pearl that lies hidden under the natural ceiling of the trees, hence its name Boule & Berså. Boule as you know is the lovely French pastime that includes iron balls, and Berså simply means arbour. This place is conveniently accessible by sea, by foot, or by car – and allows you to beat your friends at boule while sipping refreshing drinks and eating lovely food from the bar and restaurant. Immensely satisfied, we wanted more. So once we were done playing, drinking, and eating (how can anyone be done with that?) we took the short stroll over the bridge to Södermalm, and headed up to the old quarters of Fjällgatan – a unique street that offers an unparalleled panoramic view of the Stockholm inlet. Here we quickly proceeded to grab the best seats at the café before trying out every flavour on the ice-cream menu. Burp.
When are you coming?
Sven

All right, your fave archipelago guide Puffy is back! Although I’m always on the run exploring the many islands of the archipelago, I must admit I’ve been extra busy this weekend, heading out to two of my favourite islands.
I have been very busy crusin´ the islands all weekend long. It is exhausting with all the sun and wind beating at your face, let me tell you! But that’s the price one must pay to enjoy one of the most amazing and undisturbed natural landscapes that our dear earth has to offer. Oh sacrifices. Anyway, I went all the way out to Sandhamn, a bit early in the season maybe, but nevertheless. This is where all the cool city people relocate in the summertime to party. It can be quite a vibrant and active little harbour during the summer to be honest! This time I just strolled around the harbour and enjoyed the weather. It’s nice to go out here in the mornings, before all the people wake up, just to have that first ice cream of the day in relaxing solitude, ah! I also spent an afternoon on Dalarö, here you can rent canoes and kayaks if you happen to be of the more active type. I on the other hand decided to treat myself to some lovely seafood in one of the cosy restaurants before heading home in the sunset.
Grab a merry ferry you too!

Well hello there! Pardon my absence, when life’s a party you have to dance, and there’s not much time for blogging you know! I have however had my share of wining and dining.
The other day I treated myself to a traditional Biff Rydberg at the reliable restaurant Tranan by Odenplan. I know what you’re all thinking, a biff WHAT!? Well, hang on a second and let me present to you Swedish food culture lesson 1: Biff Rydberg! It is basically chopped potatoes and beef, in perfectly fine cubes, mixed together perfectly and then topped off with an egg. Sometimes less is more, and there is no place like Tranan to get this incredible Swedish dish served perfect! Well worth a visit, so head on over! As spring has hit us big time here in our lovely city, I strolled home after dinner in the lovely sun with some classic tunes on my iPod. There’s simply no better place than Stockholm this time a year! Stay tuned for my next lesson in Swedish culture!
Until we meet again /Sven

Lots of my friends tell me how wonderful it is to live in a town like Stockholm. Because, not only does Stockholm host the largest gay festival in all of Scandinavia, there’s so much more to enjoy than just the regular rainbow bars.
The Pride festival usually takes place towards the end of July every year, and is complete with visitors from far and abroad. Stockholmers celebrate for an entire week, enjoying a jam-packed festival program along with seminars, exhibitions, a film festival, theatre and a large festival area open during daytime. Keeping up to date of gay and lesbian Stockholm is easily done here. My friends on the other hand think I’m way beyond open-minded, what with all my lamppost swinging and singing. Speaking of which, the time for all of that is nigh! The other day I enjoyed a great brunch at the Radisson SAS Strand Restaurant & Lounge, before singing and swinging those calories away all along Skeppsbron. (the waterfront walk that runs through the Old Town). Lovely!
That was all for now,

So I decided to go on a boat trip the other day, and even though the lovely spring has come to stay, it’s not quite summer yet. But that doesn’t mean the archipelago isn’t lovely, on the contrary if you ask me!
You see, there’s not much that beats breaking the waves on an old-fashioned steamboat prior to the perceived “season”. When the ice has melted, and the vegetation begins to blossom on every little islet, having the archipelago all to yourself is among the best things in life. Well, in my life that is. I eventually got off at Vaxholm, not too far out and an easy start to my archipelagic adventures of this year. The seaside town on the outskirts of Stockholm was bustling with weekend activity and people enjoying the sun. The old harbour and city has a history from the 16th century, and the main fortress guarding the seaward entrance to the city of Stockholm was in it’s current shape finished in 1863. I took some time to wander around the harbour, enjoyed an ice cream in the sun, and then I went back home. Next time I’ll be travelling much further into the Stockholm archipelago.
See you!

Let me tell you all about the other day! I walked over to Södermalm in the lovely fresh air, and allowed myself to take the time to stop by almost every store I passed. Now, if that isn’t life, then you tell me!
After passing Slussen I walked up the hill that is Götgatsbacken. Although fairly steep, it’s well worth the effort once you reach all the lovely shops and stores. I began by looking through H&M, which is what all Swedes do when the chance appears. Then I continued to visit the whole Bruno Galleria, including stores such as Whyred, Filippa K, STUK, Adidas originals, and so on. Not content with a shopping bag in every hand, I continued out on the street again, popping in and out all over the place. Since the cars were recently banned on this lovely street, it’s a shopper’s paradise! I had a quick latte inside Wayne’s coffee while reading some magazine’s that I bought in the adjacent newsagent. Thereafter, with my new-found energy, I headed on over to Krukmakargatan to enjoy the cluster of stores that all lie side by side. I went to Nitty Gritty, A.P.C, Carhartt, and Fred Perry! After that I was so exhausted I went straight home to bed.
love

Last time I told you I was heading off to the SkyBar, and what an evening it turned out to be! Starting out on the 9th floor of the Radisson SAS Royal Viking Hotel I ended up having a fantastic dinner with Mr Meatball.
After enjoying a couple of cocktails and some great service (beaten only by the amazing view of the sunset) I realised it was dinnertime. When at the SkyBar eating is easily accomplished at Stockholm Fisk on the ground floor. However, seeing as I have had 4 dinners there in the last 3 days I decided to go somewhere else. Took a stroll down Vasagatan, and soon found myself on Fredsgatan. To my great surprise I saw Mr Meatball enjoying his supper in the window of the gourmet restaurant F12. I joined him, and we spoke of fond Stockholm the Musical memories that were every now and then interrupted by Meatball’s praise for the food. I had the Arctic Char with dill, fantastic! After that we tried their desserts. I downed the almond soufflé with rosehip, while Meatball insisted on having perfect ball-shaped scoops of vanilla ice cream. He has a sincere hang-up on spheres that fellow.
See you around in town,
Sven

Wow! Not only can I keep on clubbing in my favourite costume, I get to blog about it too! I’m not really a disco ball, I just ended up in this suit after the airplane part of the musical had already been cast.
But lucky lucky me, because having stepped into the eyes and ears of the disco ball outfit, I’m not stepping out. I presume it’s this intense dedication and love of nightlife that earned me this coveted spot as an author of the cast’s blog. So you watched the musical? Fantastic huh? Well that’s not even half of the glam and glory that Stockholm has to offer. Trust me, I’m out and about bopping my head and spinning my costume at clubs and bars all over town, all around the clock. That’s what I intend to add to this blog, because the clubbing never ends! There’ll be the odd tip or two on where to go - but I’ll also bring you interesting gossip and news on what’s going on. Isn’t that great!?
Keep spinning,
Miss Disco

I bet you never thought a meatball could write, right? Well guess what, it’s time to broaden your horizon and listen to your new curled up friend. From now on I’ll be telling you all about the best places to dine in the wonderful city of Stockholm, Sweden.
I might look like a meatball, and I do actually call myself Mr Meatball, but this is all something that stuck on after I participated in Stockholm the Musical. I played the part of the singing Meatball. The Swedish speciality. Of course there’s a whole lot more to Swedish cuisine than balls of ground beef, something that all our fine restaurants in Stockholm showcase on a regular basis. If they’re not serving happy customers, it’s because they’re out somewhere in the world picking up an award or something similar. But meatballs naturally have a magical place in my heart, as in most of the people who come to Stockholm and have them the way they were always intended, with mashed potatoes, lingonberries, and cucumber. Well, that was all for now, thanks for stopping by.
